For Doing This, I Found -는 데에

a

You are describing what your work is useful for and what you have learned through doing it. -는 데에 names the task a resource or effort serves; -다 보니 connects continued activity with an emerging result.

What the Help, Time, or Effort Is For

Verb stem + -는 데에 names an activity when talking about its usefulness, requirements, cost, or duration: 배우는 데에 도움이 되다, 준비하는 데에 시간이 걸리다. 에 is often omitted. Leave a space before 데에; it is a dependent noun in this construction.

i sajeoneun sae daneoreul baeuneun dee doumi dwaeyo.
This dictionary helps with learning new words.
balpyoreul junbihaneun dee du sigani geollyeosseoyo.
It took two hours to prepare the presentation.

What Emerges Through Doing

Attach -다 보니 to an action verb stem: 일하다 보니, 만나다 보니, 읽다 보니. It shortens -다 보니까. The following clause gives a changed situation, discovery, or unplanned result that emerged through the activity.

maeil i gireul geotda boni dongnega iksukhaejyeosseoyo.
Walking this route every day, I came to know the neighbourhood.
chingureul dowajuda boni jeodo mani baewosseoyo.
By helping my friend along the way, I learned a lot too.
Hint · 힌트
Compare 배우는 데 도움이 돼요, “It helps with learning,” with 배우는데 어려워요, “I’m learning it, but it’s hard.” The first has a dependent noun 데 with a space; the second has the connecting ending -는데. -다 보면 often looks ahead to what may result if you continue.
