In That Respect, As a Result -점에서
a
You want to explain why someone’s work deserves respect. Name the feature that matters, then connect an effort with its outcome. These patterns make an evaluation easier to follow in writing or a presentation.
Name the Feature Behind the Judgement
Use a statement-shaped modifier before 점에서: action verbs -ㄴ다는/-는다는, adjectives -다는, nouns -(이)라는. The phrase means in the respect that or on the grounds that. It singles out the feature supporting what follows.
nuguna iyonghal su itdaneun jeomeseo i seobiseuneun yuyonghaeyo.
This service is useful in that anyone can use it.
kkeutkkaji pogihaji anatdaneun jeomeseo geu seonsureul jongyeonghaeyo.
I respect that athlete for not giving up until the end.
Connect Effort With Its Outcome
Use the completed-action modifier -(으)ㄴ + 결과: 조사한 결과, 노력한 결과. The following clause states the result or discovery. Nouns such as 조사 can also take 결과 directly: 조사 결과.
kkujunhi yeonseuphan gyeolgwa daehoeeseo sangeul badasseoyo.
As a result of practising steadily, I won a prize in the contest.
jaryoreul josahan gyeolgwa saeroun sasireul alge dwaesseoyo.
After researching the material, I learned a new fact.
Hint · 힌트
Use 점에서 to give the criterion for your evaluation. Use 결과 to connect the process with an outcome. A feature and a consequence are different kinds of support for an argument.
