I’ve Looked Everywhere X了又Y

You can’t find your phone. You look, search again, ask everyone, and still come up empty. These casual frames capture repeated attempts, something you can’t manage no matter how you try, or a feeling so strong that “very” hardly covers it.

我找了又找，还是没看见手机。

wǒ zhǎo le yòu zhǎo, háishi méi kànjiàn shǒujī.

I searched and searched, but still couldn’t find my phone.

我问也问不出来，查也查不到，只好再打一次电话。

wǒ wèn yě wèn bu chūlai, chá yě chá bu dào, zhǐhǎo zài dǎ yí cì diànhuà.

I couldn’t get an answer by asking or searching, so I had to call again.

他改了又改，改了又改，终于把报告交上去了。

tā gǎi le yòu gǎi, gǎi le yòu gǎi, zhōngyú bǎ bàogào jiāo shàngqù le.

He revised it again and again, and finally turned in the report.

听说她明天回来，他别提有多高兴了。

tīngshuō tā míngtiān huílai, tā bié tí yǒu duō gāoxìng le.

He’s over the moon that she’s coming back tomorrow.

Hint · 힌트

X了又Y describes doing something repeatedly. X也X不……，Y也Y不…… says repeated attempts don’t work. 别提有多X了 is an emphatic way to say a feeling or quality is extreme.
