Get Someone to Take Action例 · 我叫他来的
The surprise ending made everyone laugh; the announcement made the room go quiet. 叫、令、使, and 让 can name the person or thing that causes someone else to act or feel a certain way. The person after the causative verb carries out the next action.
我叫他来的。
wǒ jiào tā lái de。
I told him to come.
这个消息令我很吃惊。
zhège xiāoxi lìng wǒ hěn chījīng。
This news surprised me.
这件事使他很高兴。
zhè jiàn shì shǐ tā hěn gāoxìng。
This made him very happy.
让我来帮你吧。你的包看起来很重。
ràng wǒ lái bāng nǐ ba。 nǐ de bāo kànqǐlai hěn chóng。
Let me help you. Your bag looks very heavy.
