Because, You See -기 때문에
Someone asks why you admire a friend. You can give a clear reason with -기 때문에, then add a conversational comment with -는데요. The first builds the explanation; the second leaves space for a response.
Give the Reason Explicitly
Attach -기 때문에 to a verb or adjective stem: 도와주기 때문에, 친절하기 때문에. Nouns can take 때문에 directly, as in 비 때문에, “because of the rain.” A noun predicate uses -이기 때문에: 학생이기 때문에.
Leave the Conversation Open
At the end of a turn, -는데요 can introduce background, react, or gently contrast with what was said. Use -는데요 for action verbs and 있다/없다, -(으)ㄴ데요 for adjectives, -인데요 for nouns. The meaning depends on the situation and intonation.
React With Admiration
A sentence ending in -는데요 can also react to something impressive or unexpected: 한국어를 정말 잘하는데요! The shape is the same as the background ending, but the turn-final intonation presents an appreciative observation rather than requiring an unfinished explanation.
