No Preference, Plenty to Choose From例 · 你想坐火车还是坐飞机

“吃不吃都无所谓”—whether we eat or not is up to you. If a friend takes your joke the wrong way, 想到哪儿去了? pushes back. And 要什么有什么 reassures them that everything they need is available. Each reply suits a different kind of conversational snag.

你想坐火车还是坐飞机,我都无所谓,按你方便的来。
nǐ xiǎng zuò huǒchē háishi zuò fēijī, wǒ dōu wúsuǒwèi, àn nǐ fāngbiàn de lái.
I don’t mind whether we take the train or fly; let’s do whatever’s convenient for you.
我说的是去看电影,你想到哪儿去了?
wǒ shuō de shì qù kàn diànyǐng, nǐ xiǎng dào nǎr qù le?
I meant going to see a movie—what did you think I meant?
别担心,店里要什么有什么,咱们到那儿再买。
bié dānxīn, diàn lǐ yào shénme yǒu shénme, zánmen dào nàr zài mǎi.
Don’t worry, the shop has everything we need; we can buy it when we get there.
Hint · 힌트
In 无所谓X不X, X appears twice with 不 between the copies: 去不去, 做不做. 想到哪儿去了 is a fixed challenge to someone’s assumption. 要什么有什么 means “whatever you need, we have it.”
