Why Even Bother?例 · 既然都知道了
Your friend wants to drive across town for one missing ingredient. 何必跑那么远呢? (“Why go all that way?”) is not really asking for a reason; it suggests the effort isn’t worth it. The question form makes that advice more pointed.
既然都知道了,何必再问?
jìrán dōu zhīdào le, hébì zài wèn?
Since you already know, why bother asking again?
你何苦为了这点小事生气?
nǐ hékǔ wèile zhèdiǎn xiǎoshì shēngqì?
Why bother getting angry over such a small thing?
我很好,你呢?
wǒ hěn hǎo, nǐ ne?
I'm fine, and you?
