I’ll Never Do That Again 再也不

You missed the last train and had to take an expensive taxi home. The next day, you tell your friend you’ll never stay out that late again. These forms make a strong negative point: a lasting change, an emphatic correction, or something you can’t manage no matter how you try.

搬家以后,我再也没见过老邻居。
bānjiā yǐhòu, wǒ zàiyě méi jiànguo lǎo línjū.
Since moving, I’ve never seen my old neighbor again.
别担心,我可没忘记你的生日。
bié dānxīn, wǒ kě méi wàngjì nǐ de shēngrì.
Don’t worry; I really haven’t forgotten your birthday.
这道题我怎么也想不出来,得请老师帮忙。
zhè dào tí wǒ zěnme yě xiǎng bu chūlai, děi qǐng lǎoshī bāngmáng.
I can’t figure out this problem no matter how hard I try; I’ll have to ask the teacher for help.
外面下着大雨,我们怎么都不想出门。
wàimiàn xiàzhe dà yǔ, wǒmen zěnme dōu bù xiǎng chūmén.
It’s pouring outside, and none of us wants to go out.
Hint · 힌트
再也不/没 describes something that will not happen again. 可 adds emphasis or corrects an assumption. 怎么也/都不/没 says that an action or result remains impossible across all attempts.
