You’re telling a friend why you like your new neighborhood. First, it’s close to work; on top of that, there’s a great market nearby. 并且 adds another related point. 不仅…还/而且… makes the build-up more explicit: “not only…but also…”
我家离公司很近，并且附近有一个大市场。
wǒ jiā lí gōngsī hěn jìn, bìngqiě fùjìn yǒu yí ge dà shìchǎng.
My home is close to work, and there’s also a big market nearby.
她不仅会说中文，还会写汉字。
tā bùjǐn huì shuō Zhōngwén, hái huì xiě Hànzì.
She can not only speak Chinese, but also write Chinese characters.
这家小店不仅东西好吃，而且服务也很好。
zhè jiā xiǎodiàn bùjǐn dōngxi hǎochī, érqiě fúwù yě hěn hǎo.
The food at this little shop is not only tasty; the service is great too.
我们不光看了比赛，还跟运动员聊了天。
wǒmen bùguāng kàn le bǐsài, hái gēn yùndòngyuán liáo le tiān.
We not only watched the game, we also chatted with the athletes.
Hint · 힌트
不仅 can introduce either a verb or a noun phrase. Pairing it with 还 or 而且 helps the listener hear that a second point is coming. 并且 is a more neutral way to add a related fact.
