虽然……但是…… states an expectation and then gives the fact that complicates it. In a short reply, the contrast can also be left to context or marked with 不过 after the first point.
虽然今天很冷，但是我们还要出去。
suīrán jīntiān hěn lěng， dànshì wǒmen hái yào chūqù。
Although it’s cold today, we still have to go out.
我想和你一起去，但是我没有时间。
wǒ xiǎng hé nǐ yīqǐ qù， dànshì wǒ méiyǒu shíjiān。
I want to go with you, but I don’t have time.
你们的计划很好，可是我的更好。
