Wait a Few Minutes, Stay a Few Years 分钟

Your friend asks how long you’ve been waiting, then how long you’ve lived in your apartment. Put a number before a duration word such as 分钟, 天, 周, or 年. These answer “how long?”; compare time and frequency for words like “first,” “again,” and “right now.”

我想我们还是再多等三十分钟吧。
wǒ xiǎng wǒmen háishi zài duō děng sānshí fēnzhōng ba。
I think we had better wait another thirty minutes.
我在这里住了三十年了。
wǒ zài zhèlǐ zhù le sānshí nián le。
I have lived here for thirty years.
我等了你两个小时,差点儿以为你不来了。
wǒ děng le nǐ liǎng ge xiǎoshí, chàdiǎnr yǐwéi nǐ bù lái le.
I waited two hours for you and almost thought you weren’t coming.
这三周我学到了很多东西。
zhè sān zhōu wǒ xuédào le hěn duō dōngxī。
I’ve learned a lot over these three weeks.
