Who Does What to Whom例 · 我买水果
You want to tell your friend who bought the fruit: 我买水果. Chinese usually puts the person first, the action next, and the thing acted on after the verb. That subject–verb–object order also gives you a useful starting point for longer sentences; a description can fill the predicate slot too.
Examples
我买水果。
Wǒ mǎi shuǐguǒ.
I buy fruit.
妹妹喜欢音乐。
Mèimei xǐhuan yīnyuè.
My younger sister likes music.
天气很好。
Tiānqì hěn hǎo.
The weather is very nice.
Hint · 힌트
The object normally follows the verb: 我看书. Keep the basic subject–predicate order even when you add time or place information.
