From Here to the Place 에서부터
a
A guest asks how far the café is from the station. You need a starting point and a way to identify the place you will meet. 에서부터 marks where a route begins; -(으)ㄹ can put a future action before a noun.
Make the Starting Point Clear
Place + 에서부터 means starting from that place. Pair it with 까지 for the destination. Plain 에서 often works too; 부터 makes the starting boundary explicit.
yeogeseobuteo kapekkaji georeoseo sip bun geollyeoyo.
It takes ten minutes to walk from the station to the café.
yeogieseobuteo gachi georeoyo.
We walk together from here.
Describe What Will Happen There
Attach -ㄹ after a vowel or ㄹ, -을 after another consonant, before a noun: 만날 장소, 먹을 음식, 만들 선물. It describes a future or intended action. You have already met this ending inside 갈 거예요; now the noun can be 장소, 음식, or anything the action describes.
uriga mannal kapeneun yeok ape isseoyo.
The café where we will meet is in front of the station.
naeil meogeul eumsigeul sasseoyo.
I bought food to eat tomorrow.
Hint · 힌트
Keep the modifier and the main sentence’s tense separate. 먹을 음식을 샀어요 means the buying is finished but the eating is still to come.
