That's Why ので
You ask to leave early because your child is sick: 子どもが熱を出したので、早く帰ってもいいですか. ので gives a reason with a softer, less blunt feel than から.
Since I have to go to the hospital, would it be alright if I took today off?
Since I have a headache, would it be alright if I took today off?
Hint · 힌트
から states a reason as a fact, sometimes bluntly, while ので frames it as a shared, reasonable explanation, which is why it shows up so often right before a polite request like てもいいでしょうか. の-adjectives and nouns take な before ので, just as they do before の itself: 好きなので, 今日なので.
Since it takes an hour to get to the office, I get tired.
Sorry, since I have a test on Monday, it's a bit...
Hint · 힌트
Trailing off after ので, leaving ちょっと。。。 unfinished, is a very natural way to decline an invitation without spelling out a flat no, letting the reason imply the refusal on its own.
