It’s Starting to Make Sense例 · 门把手掉下来了

The room finally quiets down; then the name comes back to you. Complements like 下来 and 起来 can mark a change of state or a new realization: 静下来 is “become quiet,” 想起来 is “remember.” Here the action reaches a new condition rather than moving through space.

门把手掉下来了。
ménbǎshou diào xiàlai le。
The doorknob came off.
他从山上走下去了。
tā cóng shān shàng zǒu xiàqù le。
He walked down the mountain.
我想不起来我在哪儿买的了。
